The Kurdish YPG has mostly withdrawn from its northwestern Afrin enclave amid a Turkish-led assault, while three rebel enclaves around Damascus have been completely wiped off the map by government offensives.
Pro-federal forces have scored some victories against Al Shabaab, such as capturing the district center of Sablale, though they’ve lost ground in other places. Meanwhile, self-proclaimed Khatumo state has signed an agreement to merge with Somaliland.
