Sudan Control Map & Timeline: RSF Takes Darfur Cities – Dec. 2023 (Subscription)

From October to December of 2023, the RSF completed its control of all but one of Darfur’s state capitals, while also expanding slightly south of Khartoum. Former and current rebel groups were rallying to defend El Fasher, the last Darfur capital, from an RSF takeover.

All new map and timeline: Seven months into Sudan’s new civil war, the RSF controlled much of Khartoum and part of every state capital in Darfur. Meanwhile, pre-existing rebel groups continued to control parts of South Kordofan and Blue Nile states and Darfur’s Jebel Marra.
